After This Quiet Earth 'Lifeless' was seen as a stepping stone towards the next IKON album, and is a stand alone single. Chris was experiencing despair and negativity about developments with the band and failed attempts for IKON to tour Europe. While it's not one of the greatest IKON singles, it encapsulates a time of transition that would lead to further success for the band in its new incarnation.

'Lifeless' is also unique because it is one of only two singles not to feature Dino Molinaro on bass (the other is 'Reality is Lost').
